I asked hubs to buy me a desk to re-do for Christmas.... We searched this online yardsale for weeks before we found one that would work. We paid $30 for this gem:
It is now primed and awaiting a new coat of beautiful yellow paint.
Now the drawers offer up a slight issue for me. I love how big they are! The facade though, I'm not crazy about. I posted this picture on my facebook fan page and got a little bit of inspiration which then lead me to pinterest. I now have plenty of ideas on what to do! I'm pretty sure I'm going to upholster the drawers with fabric and add some cute vintage knobs from the Holly Hobby (family name for Hobby Lobby). Hope hubs doesn't get mad that he primed the drawers unnecessarily! But, we need to have a solid background IN CASE you can see through the foam AND the fabric, right?
Check out the pinspiration:
What do you think? Do you have any ideas for me?

Do you know they have batting under the fabric? I recently saw a desk, maybe on pinterest, and the drawer fronts were Modge Podged with fabric instead of paper. It was gorgeous, as are the ones you showed. Only one looked padded to me. If decoupaged (another word for M.P.), hubs didn't waste his time, for that whoever it was that did it, primed first then did it like with paper, maybe plus polyurethane, not sure. YOU stay away from fumes!! I know you know. Good luck, can't wait to see what you do. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
I found the other desk done with Modge Podge and fabric! It's at http://kim-toomuchtimeonmyhands.blogspot.com/2011/11/decoupage-fabric-desk.html. Hope this is helpful.
