The last time we talked about nursery's I thought I was having a little boy. Our nugget is all female, so I had to totally trash all of my ideas and the theme. I am, of course in love with our color pallet, and couldn't be more in love with the fabrics we picked out!
So our nugget’s nursery has been painted. We put up the main color this weekend, and we love it. We will never paint another room ever again. It was torturous. Painting is not for the faint at heart.
Now that it is complete, I’m trying to decide which stencil I want to paint on the “feature” wall…. The wall where her crib is. I’ve never been too keen on decorating even though HGTV is the only channel I know. I really need some help deciding on what style stencil to use. Of course I resorted to etsy, but it’s SO FLOODED with vendors, it’s hard to muddle through all the products.
Here are the fabrics we picked out for our nursery. Take a long glance at them. Better yet, study them. I’m really desperate for your help.
Here are a few stencils I like. ..
This one is pretty neat, simple and clean.
I like it. It's pretty versatile, too. The
question is, will it go well with the fabrics we

Not a huge fan of damask for the baby's
room only because I don't think it correlates
with the fabric very well. I do like this
pattern though.

This stencil very well may be my

Simple. Nice. I'm so lost.
Much easier than an all

over wall stencil.
Should I can the whole stencil thing and
free hand something like this over her crib?
Which one suits the fabric best?
(we will be doing it in a golden yellow color)
Do you have any tips for this virgin stenciler?
Do you know a good stencil vendor?

I like the peacock one or the top quatrefoil one best. :)
I haven't had much luck with stencils in the past...so no advice there. Have you seen the idea on pinterest to paint a design with the gloss the same color as the wall? We are planning to do this, and will use a computer and projector instead of stencil.
Hmm, I love the modernness of the first one, but the simple flowers toward the end might be better because you can decide how dense to make it. That also gives you the freedom to just do a little at a time. :)
Have you thought about a giant decal instead? No painting, no mess, and you can change it easily as she grows.
I like the last one with the free-handed limb and then maybe paint one of the navy blue birds from the fabric on a limb. One bird/your first little "chickie." The peacock feather stencil also looks like that pillow pattern we looked at. Btw...I still LOVE the fabrics!!!
Love the fabrics!!! That's the stage I'm on too...hm, as far as the stencils, my favorite is the first one :)
Wow, nurseries have gotten complicated since my babies were born. Youngest is 26, close to your age probably. If you found painting walls that hard (I'm with you, and we have vaulted ceilings so tall wall is 12') I suspect whole wall stenciling is not good for you at this point. The baby won't miss it. You've chosen a lot of pattern already. Love the peacock so if you do whole wall I'd go with that stencil. May I suggest first going to Michael's or somewhere and picking up a small stencil, trying it on a wall? I've tried it on paper and it's tricky, on the wall (was my intention), you have the added trial of stretch, keep it in place, level, etc.

I love the first stencil!
I have a different idea that doesn't involve painting on the wall!
Have you seen the wall decor made out of embroidery hoops stretched with fabric? So easy, inexpensive, and you can personalize to your heart's content. Lemme see if I can find a picture...
Here's one!

Megan I would say to use your talent in drawing and free hand something that will match your fabric and heart! This way you get excatly what you want! And you can make it girlie or simple or whatever your little one's heart desires!
