Lamp Repurpose {Help!!!!!!!}

So I had this really neat lampshade on my nightstand, but I made a mess of that darn table. I decided to organize it and spruce it up.
I can't believe I'm showing you this picture, but that's my bed side table. Covered with inspirational books and my bible! I think I see a sideways CD in there. Anyways... My intentions were to just repaint the lamp, put it back together, and put it back to a newly organized table. Easy peasy lemon squeezy, right?
It had a really neat {kinda retro} look to it. Love, but it didn't fit.

So I painted The durn thing...
TRIED to put it back together. Fail. Fail. Fail. Fail.
I broke the electrical part thingy....

So I cut out the cords and threw the "innerds" away.
This is what I'm left with.
...and I'm stuck.
...as you can imagine,
I got angry and never organized my table

Can you give me some ideas?
What do I do now that i've
completely ruined this project??
As you can see, the top comes up
to a pretty narrow cylinder
{that I'm going to have to repaint}.
Please. Help.

oh btw, i got a facebook...
go like me :)

You could always get a new light kit to put it back together.. It's just new cords to wire through. I've got one at Walmart before and they are fairly cheap. If not a lamp I think it looks cute as a vase. Pop some twigs in there and I think it would look great :)

Your lamp looks terrific in the new paint color! If you decided not to rewire it, I think it looks great as an accessory- perhaps for a table or your mantel.

I like it "as is" with the new color but it would also look pretty with a single large, gerbera daisy or other large bloom. What about turning it upside down and putting in a large basket with other "chatki's"?

Megan you are not stuck, you have just begun! Go to your local craft store and pick up something called rub and buff (you can see a picture of it on my blog, http://ms-smartie-pants.blogspot.com/2010/11/mirror-mirror-on-wall.html) It is magic in a tube. Comes in many colors and will transform your lamp base. Either pick up a new lamp kit at the hardware store or buy and old lamp and put it back together. It isn't hard I do it all the time. Don't give up on this lamp it will be beautiful and a great one of a kind piece when you are done! I have redone many lamps on my blog. Come and check it out!

Definitely a vase with some cute greenery. The long stick thing is really popular - my SIL has a big vase that sits on the ground in her house and long sticks are shooting up to the sky, it looks really nice. Maybe if you could find the green equivalent to bring a little color back to it?I love it though, it would even be nice as a conversation piece on a mantle or above kitchen cabinets in an eclectic vase collection. If you don't want it, send it my way ;]

PS - found you on Facebook - saw your post on VWB's page and thought I'd chime in and say that if you ever wanted to guest post for me or do a blog swap, I'd be happy to - you are really cute and have a great blog! Give it a little time and you will be one of the greats :] I have a blog and I know it will never be super amazing because my main focus is my shop, but I would be happy to advertise for you if you like. Hang in there - we are all in this together! :]

Found you from vintage wanna be's facebook page. :)

I would totally turn it into a vase! Buy some fake flowers, long stemed ones. PRETTY! :)
