BIRTH STORY FEATURE: Christine {C Section Birth-2}

The week leading up to Noah’s birth was L-O-N-G.  I was induced with Elijah at 39 weeks so I felt completely overdue with Noah.  Even though my c-section was scheduled for the day before my due date, I was hopeful until the very last moment I might go into labor on my own and try a VBAC.
I was a little disappointed the morning of my c-section that I never went into labor, but on the way to the hospital, I was gently reminded how I had been praying throughout the entire pregnancy that God would decide for me what was best – c-section vs. VBAC.  I realized that He had in fact answered my prayer, He just happened to decide in favor of a c-section.  I relaxed a little and enjoyed the ride to meet my new son.
Everything was completely chill the morning of Noah’s birth – completely unlike the moments leading up to Elijah’s triumphal entry.  It was nice.  I was calm, Mike was calm, the doctors were calm.  Calm is good.  I was wheeled into surgery at 9:30, and by 9:58AM we could hear Noah screaming from the top of his lungs.  I was awake enough to get a good look at him in the OR, and even hold and nurse him properly in recovery.  It was beautiful :) .
My post-partum recovery has been incredible.  I don’t mean to say that it’s been a piece of cake, but compared to my last experience, it has been fantastic (it might have something to do with the fact that the doctors and nurses didn’t have to rip me open this time around!).  All of my fears and worries about life after this c-section have melted away and I have been able to enjoy every minute of this experience with Noah AND Elijah.
It’s hard to believe it’s almost been four weeks!  How is it possible for time to fly so quickly away now that we’re having so much fun?  It’s incredible because even though it’s only been four weeks, it feels like Noah has always been part of our family.
Welcome Baby Noah.  You are a joy and delight to our family.  We’re so glad you’re here.  :)
