I hate this e-card.

I hate it.
HATE IT.
I am a working mother whose dreams come true on the weekends.
I look so forward to the weekend- all three of us home together & enjoying each other's company. As mom's we should look forward to spending time at home. I envy those who get to stay home all day with their children. It gripes me so hard (is that the right way to say that figure of speech?) to see this all over SAHM's wall.

And for working mothers???
ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND WITH YOUR CHILDREN.

The "oh wait... I'm a mom" - it's taking it too far. If you are one who has posted or shared this, maybe you should take a step back and think about how blessed you are to be a mother. Oh, what? You can't party anymore? It wasn't good for you anyway - that child is teaching you responsibility. You can't go out for long shopping trips anymore? The blessings of children will be with us in heaven - those clothes will be eaten by moths and wither away. Please, think twice about how you feel about spending time with your children. As I type this I'm laying in the floor with the most precious baby girl in the whole wide world. Yes, she's been fussy today, but she is my beautiful blessing from God - and I love my weekends with her.

Rant over. Off to play babble talk with my girl.

There are a lot of those ecards that people pin that I don't think they really think about what it's saying. I didn't really think about what you said when I first read that one, but it makes sense. I love how open and honest you are! Enjoy your time with Madison. :)

This is a super important viewpoint & definitely food for thought!
I admit to sharing this card, but I took it a whole different way! I am a working mom of 2, and I LOVE my weekends, but I never really feel like I'm getting a break like I did before kids... & that's not a bad thing, either. I never complain about the time I have with my children... But I never really have a day "off" either...which is why I thought the card was kinda funny. I don't go out much, my life revolves around my kids & I wouldn't have it any other way... Doesn't make the card less "true".... You're a mom 24/7 no matter what & most of us really wouldn't have it any other way! I appreciate your honesty and love that you love being a mom! I'll definitely put a little more thought behind future e-cards I choose to repin! <3

I'm a SAHM to a 10 month old and I'm still waiting for it to be the "hardest job in the world." No way would I want to juggle working too. I do not have that much emotional energy!

My husband and I were only talking last night about how overwhelming it can seem that we'll never get a break from parenting. Part of me is freaking out, yet I've wanted to be a SAHM for years! It's so important to remember what an honour it is to be a parent - especially on the stressful days!

Thanks for posting this :)

Interesting look at this one.... I saw it last week and thought it was funny because I thought of it more as the days flying by so fast and blending together that the day of the week seems irrelevant. I'm a SAHM and there are many days that just slip by because I'm heavily involved with the kids and not on working schedule...
Point taken with the outlook of those that think of it as not being able to go do the things they were once able to do before the kiddos though!

I agree! I think alot of people share this looking at it from the perspective of "a mother's work is never done", which is true . . . but it's a huge blessing to be a mom, and it's something that a lot of people don't get to ever experience! This card didn't quite sit right with me either, and I think maybe you described it - it makes it sound like being a mom is a negative thing, because you don't get a "break" from being a mom, but being a mom is such a blessing!

I'm sorry but I'm a stay at home. And a working mom has no idea what it means to not get a break. Weekends, I'm still working, I work all through the night and then when I go on vacations, my work comes with me.

Being a mom is a blessing but I just want to be able to go to the bathroom by myself. Grocery shopping by myself, is heaven.

Do I feel guilty about wanting time away? No. Do you as a working mom think you need date nights? Or I've away with your friends?

I saw this. And I giggled. I am not going to lie. But it is coming from a completely different perspective that you have no idea about. And it isn't fair to make others feel guilty by judging something you have no idea about.

Thank you so much for reaching out to me on this issue. It is hard on both ends of the spectrum and I am sorry if I came off judgmental in anyway. I feel that we both have a better understanding about one another now.

Thank you again. And best of luck in the future!

I'm a SAHM and this meme was funny to me. But NOT because I'm a stay at home mom. Because I'm a MOM. When I was a working mom, I still had to "work" all weekend... clean the house, catch up on laundry, grocery shop... and the same is true now. I may have 7 days at home with my kids but now my "job" is 24/7. Back when I was a working mom I felt like my job was M-F and my LIFE was 24/7. So, give the meme maker a break... it's not a "Oh man, life sucks now that I'm a mom!" sentiment. It's a shout out to all the work ALL moms do, 24/7/365. :)
