Why I Quit Pinterest

Pinterest is a wonderful resource.

A great way to find ideas, inspiration, and new products.

It is a wonderful tool to use to get your awesome tutorial to go viral in seconds with your perfectly edited pictures and the cute little text name in the bottom right hand corner (not judging, I'm guilty, too)

But I have given it up.

I did not delete my account, nor did I delete all my pins. I quite browsing Pinterest for several reasons. I still use it as my "google for all things crafty," but I do not sign in and scroll, scroll, scroll like I used to. I only go to it when I have a specific thing I'm looking for. Here, lately, it has been for recipes. I feel like there is such a thing as "inspiration overload." Being too  inspired. Like, so inspired that your brain cannot process all the perfect little craft pins enough to complete them. I have gotten so many ideas from pinterest that I was dragged down. Getting angry at myself for having a plethora of ideas, but nothing to show for them. This is not healthy.

Then I began to compare myself to those who I found on Pinterest.

All their perfect photos.

Having time to do amazing sewing projects.

Gorgeous craft rooms.

Spotless homes.

Great tips for cleaning? Shoot, I'm lucky if I even wipe the counters down some days. Please don't make me feel worse because I haven't tried out this new idea for getting my fireplace all spic and span.

So, there. I gave up Pinterest. Well, sorta.

The Way of Entrance

I am guilty of not knowing what my style is for my home. I love everything. I like a lot of different things. Does that mean my style is eclectic? Isn't that another word for weird? Pinterest is a great source for many ideas, but I think there is a such thing as TOO many ideas. Then I second guess, and never make a decision and my inspiration is void.

We built a house and moved in November. I have yet to really decorate my home. I mean, I put some stuff up, made a collage wall, dedicated a room for crafting, and kinda cordinated the master. The only room that is truly decorated is the nursery.

My entry way has been bothering me lately. I'm so ashamed to even show these photos. This table is the place where all the mis matched decor just landed. There is no theme, no purpose, and it's not appealing. I even have a scrap of carpet as the rug. Oh my. Decor Police are on their way I'm sure.

Don't judge me for this photo please....

Whew. Glad that's over. I do love that antique mirror, though, so it's staying. I paid $10 for it at a yard sale!!! Now, let's find a solution. Here are some things I found on Pinterest that made me go "ooooh." I want to put this inspiration into action. I just don't know which one I like. Better  yet, which one is my style.

I love the idea of a pop of color...

Then we have the practical, with built in storage...

Well, isn't this just gorgeous?

Oh and here's an antique mirror

Now, isn't this a grand idea!

I need help! Do you have any ideas or inspiration to share? What about a good pinterest board for me to look at?

Mini Ironing Table

So I have this board on Pinterest. It's labeled "To Do List... No Seriously." It truly motivates me to get things done. I've had this thing pinned since the beginning of time, and am glad it's complete. Now I can move it to my "Completed Projects" board, which brings me great joy!

Is it perfect? Hah. No. Does it work? Yes. Does it match my Decoupaged Desk? Yes... So it's perfect for me and my little craft room.

I love this guy because it's not bulky like an ironing board! We drilled holes in the TV tray to allow the steam and heat to breathe through. I had some left over paint and fabric from my desk, so it's perfect!
”made

I would give you a tutorial, but this link will take you to a fantastic one!

Yeah, see it isn't perfect. I had a blonde moment with my stapler and got angry. I nailed it down because I wanted it finished. Then hubs showed me my mistake with the staple gun... I will spare myself the humility... Now you see my craft mistake. We're that close. Homies.
