Babymoon to Chattanooga {with tons of pictures}

So one of our new year's resolutions last year was to go on an "adventure" once a month. We aimed to do something new each month of this year... whether it be a new restaurant, a new recipe, or a new city to discover, we had to do something once a month. Some adventures were way more exciting and some were simply squeezed into our busy schedule.

This month (November) was our anniversary month. We decided to celebrate and get away before our baby arrives. We chose to go to Chattanooga, Tennessee. It's only 3 hours away and it has a really awesome aquarium. I love aquariums. I love animals; I'm like a child when it comes to zoos and aquariums.

Our first day we stopped in and went to the aquarium and I had a blast. It was obviously different than from what I remember as a kid. Ya know how everything is way cooler and bigger when you are a kid? I experienced that at the aquarium, but I still had a blast.

We did a lot of eating. A lot.

That's pretty much all we did. Eat. Sleep. Relax. Walk around the city. Actually now that I think of it, this pregnant lady did a whole lot of walking. We went through the art district, went through this neat book store, discovered a cement piano, and went to the lame better-when-i-was-a-kid Chattanooga Choo Choo.

It was really amazing and relaxing trip.

As far as the food goes, there weren't a whole lot of "local" restaurants. We ate at several chains, but enjoyed a local hit Sticky Fingers. It was pretty good. Not amazing. The service was poor.

Most importantly I got to spend quality time with my husband. Cue tons of pictures. Go.....

Adventure Update

Understand what this is all about {here}.

August

We went and bought pregnancy tests. Yupp. That was something that neither of us had ever done before. It was quite a new experience for sure. Trying to pick out the right kind. Making a poor awkward moment for that darling cashier at Walgreens. Trying to read the directions so I didn’t screw it up. Insisting that husband pee on one just to make sure it wasn’t a faulty box. Praying over pregnancy tests. Making husband go look after the three minutes because wifesband was too scared. Our little August adventure.

September

September’s adventure was provided by Groupon. I had a $10 referral credit which I used to purchase a $7 pizza buffet at Stevi B’s. MMmmmMMM that was some deliciously free pizza. Pretty good. I’d even eat there if I had to pay for it. I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed CiCi’s Buffet, actually. Stevi B’s has this really awesome Loaded Baked Potato pizza that is a pregnant woman’s dream. Delish. I had two full plates of salad! Yes, I love the synthetic immitation bacon bits. Really, I do! I like it more than real bacon… On my salad at least. We enjoyed our pizza together; we even high fived because it was free. The dessert pizza left something to be wanted, but maybe I was just really full! Thank you, Groupon!

What do I want to
do in October? Maybe
go to a corn maze? Hmm….

Driftwood Star

In case you missed it, I was over at FancyLittleThings.com Monday:

Are you ready for a super fun project?
I saw the original idea somewhere on pinterest, and kind of made it my own.
Durn I wish I could find that link!!

Supplies:
Large piece of cardboard
Driftwood
Scissors
Marker
Ruler
Hot Glue & Gun
Patience
Creative Mind
Preoccupied Husband

A few weeks ago husband and I went to the beach.
You can read about our fun time here.
I picked up a loot of driftwood for some
unknown project I was going to do.
I should have collected more, but
husband's hands and pockets filled fast.

To start...
you find a way to distract your husband.
...like telling him he should play video games

and trap your puppy....
[she did that on her own]

Now for the project...
you draw a star on your cardboard. Mine had a white and a brown side, so I did my drawing the white {wrong} side. This took patience, but you can download your template here, blow it up, and print it out.

If you decide to free hand {which i did} I suggest you draw a line down the middle.
But forreals, just don't free hand. It's a bad idea.

Once your star is cut out, turn it brown side up and piece together your driftwood. Start with your largest pieces first and fill in with your smaller pieces. This is the part where you use your patience. It is kinda frustrating, but hang it there. It's worth it.

I wish I had more smaller pieces... I actually broke apart
a few large pieces to make small ones.

Once you get it juuuust right TAKE A PICTURE. You will bump it and mess up your perfect geometric design. Having a picture handy is great!

Glue down your pieces. Hot glue worked just fine for me.
Driftwood is light. Once glued down, trim any cardboard that
may be showing near the edges...

I also had some seashells handy, and glued those on, too!!

I thought this would be great for a mantel design, or to sit on an
entry way table, but because husband and I are currently living in a
teeny apartment, it is so hard for me to get good pictures. This is the
best I could do. You get the idea ;)
